Kirkbymoorside Town Council

The District Council will continue to determine planning applications during the coronavirus outbreak and the current lockdown arrangements. Parish and Town Councils will be consulted as normal on all planning applications which are received during this time.

It is appreciated that this will present some difficulties for Local Council’s in terms of collating and agreeing responses to applications in view of current restrictions on movement and the stay at home advice. Whilst the Local Planning Authority understands that many Local Councils would prefer that the determination of planning applications is held in abeyance at this time, the Government has made it clear that it expects the planning system to continue to function and for planning decisions to be prioritised over other planning related work. All planning applications which are approved during this period will play an important role in supporting local businesses and the local economy once the current restrictions are lifted.

The views of local councils are an important part of the decision- taking process. During this period the views of the councillors will be collated and a response agreed using email or telephone exchange. Members of the public are encouraged to submit their views to the Planning Authority via email dm@ryedale.gov.uk by the specified closing date for observations.
