From 23 June the new harmonised approach to waste and recycling services will roll out across the former Ryedale area.
Re: Residential Waste & Recycling
From this date, the blue lidded wheelie bin is to be used for paper and card and the red lidded bin for other recyclable materials, including glass, cans, plastics and cartons.
All properties will have received an information pack – which will include a letter and leaflet, that will detail information about when the new recycling collections will start, what the bins should be used for, as well as a possible new collection day for residents.
This model of collection already takes place in the Selby area and allows us to increase the amount and quality of recycling collected at the kerbside, reduce the cost of collection, and helps towards carbon reduction. Separating the recycling improves the quality of material, reduces processing costs, and generates a higher value when it is processed. It also cuts the amount of manual lifting for both the crews and residents, as well as reducing the risk of recycling blowing around on a windy day.
Further information can be found at www.northyorks.gov.uk/right-thing-right-bin which also lists events where residents can find out more.
Re: Commercial Waste
